Dear Susan Shannon - Concerned Christian,
and the (as of this writing) 100 agreeing with you commentators on your blog,
and those like you who believe and spread distracting and insulting half truths and utter lies.
(And sadly ...I think you believe what you say.)
Well a segment of America is completely devoid of logical thought ...of simple reason ...and it goes on.
Years ago there were those who contend that the United States Government faked the World Trade Center attacks of 9-11 and brought down the buildings with explosive charges in a controlled manner. They still believe, contrary to video proof, (it must be faked) that no aircraft crashed into the Pentagon. Those years ago, I actually knew of someone I thought was sane and reasonable, yet he believed that our own government did this. Faked 911. Seriously.
Before I continue, let me admit that I too believe in at least one conspiracy. So ...I am not immune to the ideal With most everything I have read, I believe there was a second shooter at Kennedy's assassination in Dallas. Congress investigated and came to the same conclusion. I am NOT saying the government did it ..in fact I have no idea who shot Kennedy, other than that I believe there was a second shooter. So, since I believe this I may be a conspiracy wacko as well. How on earth could so many people keep a secret ? That is where I at least have my doubts. If Kennedy was killed in a conspiracy, how on earth could that many people keep that secret? It's like comedian Dana Carvey's jokes on the OJ trial. "Hey ..we're gonna frame OJ ..you in ?" Imagine allllll the individuals and organizations that would have had to be in on it. Yet ...a jury was convinced weren't they ? OJ Simpson was framed ? Shoot, to this day OJ is the ONLY person I have even ever heard of that got off despite DNA evidence.
So ...we see that people ...reasonable people...can be persuaded to believe in conspiracy on a grand scale. I believe in the Kennedy conspiracy, and many American's, though not I, thought OJ was framed.
But ..I just never considered those who thought the US Government took down the trade center (presumable to justify war) to be anything but just wackos. Without justification and completely blind to the facts, which was and is an insult to those who suffered direct loss in the tragedy ...the tragedy that Osama Bin Laden directed more than 20 of his followers to commit suicide all on the same day to kill Americans and damage our way of life. Isn't that enough of a story for them ?
And to insist, as you do, that Newtown Connecticut shootings were done by our government, presumably at the directive of President Obama, whom you claim wants to take your guns, and is willing to kill 20 innocent children to get that done. That you say this openly makes me proud to be an American...say it anywhere else and you'd be arrested. Ain't free speech great.
My frustration with this goes back to the election, where on my very own Facebook page, amongst my 500 or so friends, was a person I can only describe as a local hero. Someone that I think everyone respected. And in the days leading up to the 2012 election, this person, echoing the sentiments of others nationwide, called Obama a Muslim, a non legitimate citizen, claimed he was going to take all your guns, swore he was on a mission to ruin democracy in our country, (democracy, is, by the way, measured by elections in which the person with the most votes gets to be President...but I guess that wasn't legitimate either...twice!) compared him to Hitler, and well ...frankly ...accused him of everything short of murdering innocent first graders. But what shocked me about this one Facebook friends comments and hatred and crazy...I mean CRAZY rants, is that a good number of other people I also knew and respect as reasonable people would "like" his comments. Yes...I agree that our country had a difficult choice in November between two very different ideals...and there were and are many reasons to disagree with Obama and his policies at any given time ...but raving mad man rants were being given credence by people I considered sane.
I kept my mouth shut about it ..certainly didn't defriend the person I still consider a friend, or challenge the comments. But I was, and still am, astonished.
After the election I was in the living room of a close family member when a letter that claimed Obama was going to take everyone's guns was pulled out ...it was a printout of a massively forwarded email that was once again filled with lies, half truths, and called people to arms. In my family members living room there was a majority who deeply believed the dogma. Again ..I didn't speak out other than to have perhaps been the instigator of the reading of the email when I said under my breath "who is going to take your guns?" Again ...reasonable and intelligent people who believe this muck, even to the point of thinking a kind of holy civil war is soon to begin ...all because their side lost the election. Unbelievable. Really ? Well, I guess I got shown...the liberal in the family. (trust me I am not)
Yes ..I like to get along with everyone, and I kinda respect that people can't stand our president with enough hatred to spread these lies. You people are cut from a different cloth than I. But I respect that we are different. When I need to make my point...I won't have to lie.
I damn sure won't have to lie on the honor of 20 innocent children killed by a madman ...a sick individual in every definable sense. If the guy I voted for didn't win, when unspeakable tragedy such as Newtown CT happened, I sure wouldn't be willing to lie and say, as you said it, "I believe our GOVERNMENT shot those kids and teachers and used Adam Lanza and his family to pull it off." You should not even be able to look yourself in the mirror as the truth is unveiled, that you have disgraced the memory of these innocent souls with your vile political hatred. Good grief. And if you truly believe what you wrote ..God help you with your pure lack of reasoning and intellect, as you are as handicapped as the man who committed this heinous crime. Just ...let's say it again so we are straight Susan. You actually said "I believe our GOVERNMENT shot those kids and teachers and used Adam Lanza and his family to pull it off."
I know you are a concerned christian ..as am I by the way...concerned about many shortcomings of our country these days. But, for the disrespect you showed these innocent souls, as a christian you must know that someday you will definitely meet them in heaven. They'll forgive you as you will have already been forgiven by Him.
Sure Ms. Shannon...you and the others you link to on your blog of hatred like this one who are truly not only spitting in the face of those who are grieving the loss of their loved ones, but you are also disrespecting the families of the victims in Blacksburg, Aurora, Columbine, and Phoenix. Unless of course, the Government did all of that too. That will be your next blog post. In fact, now I realize who the conspirator in the Kennedy assassination is...it was Obama...at the age of TWO. I'm sure you will back me up on that won't you ? Probably not ..Kennedy was a" tax and spend democrat."
Be ashamed or yourself Susan Shannon. And be ashamed to be associated with those who also perpetrate these lies which have no conscience. Whatever you think of Obama .... you are, I wholeheartedly believe, are ten times worse. Ten times worse than the lies you believe. You actually...actually believe??? that the United States Government killed 20 children at the direction of Obama to get your guns ? God help you.
I worry, sincerely, about a country that actually protects those of your ilk.
And I worry more about those like myself ...people like me who usually don't have the guts to speak up to your ignorance.
